The name "Golden Milk" is totally justified by the benefits it brings along with it. The main ingredients for this drink are milk, turmeric and ghee (clarified butter) or almond oil. Turmeric, also known as Ayurveda's Golden Botanical, has a history of medicinal use, dating back nearly 4000 years. The estimated consumption of milk dates back to approximately 10,000 years, supported by archeological evidence from as far back as Neolithic Revolution (8000 BCE), points to the use of milk in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. The word "Ghee" is derived from the Sanskrit word "Ghrta" (घृत) which is also known as clarified butter originated in India and has been featured in Indian recipes and in Hindu mythology, which attributes its origin to the divine. The golden milk is a recipe can be made in as less as 5 steps:-
- Pour 1 glass of milk into a pan and put it on the stove to heat it up.
- Take one pinch of turmeric powder and mix it with milk.
- Add 5/6 drops of ghee (clarified butter) or almond oil.
- Stir until ghee (clarified butter) or almond oil and turmeric powder is mixed well with milk.
- Turn off the stove and transfer this liquid to a glass.
- (OPTIONAL) To sweeten the milk you can add 2 teaspoons of honey. (CAUTION: Do not heat up honey, add honey to the milk after you transfer it to a glass or a mug).
